Our story

nothing is left

In a world where homes have become primary polluters, we believe it’s time to rethink the plastic waste piling up on our doorstep.

We began nil with the aim of reducing permanent plastics through beautiful design. Not just by creating premium, good-looking products, but by focusing on pieces that work harder at every stage of their use. From the first ingredient prep to the final moment when they compost back into the earth. We design and produce our kitchenware using a unique bioplastic that’s 100% biodegradable after use. No microplastics, no mess.

It’s important to us that every nil product wears well. We’ve developed unique knife-friendly cutting surfaces, easy-grab handles and non-slip features to make kitchen tasks feel effortless even after years (and years) of use.

Naturally, nothing lasts forever. When a nil product reaches the end of its life, it’s engineered to decompose just as efficiently as it performed. That’s been our plan from the beginning, which is why we say NIL is designed to disappear.

Nothing Is Left was born to combine great design with real sustainable innovation.

Throughout my professional career, with adidas, TomTom and Joseph Joseph I’ve sold plastic products — creating items that, in one form or another, will remain in our ecosystem for up to 450 years.  Now, as a parent and someone passionate about sustainability, I’m determined to drive meaningful change in a category I know well — one that has seen little true innovation. Together, we can help eliminate plastic waste and build a future our children will be proud of.

Mark Dolan Co-founder & Non Exec Director

Mark Dolan Co-founder & Non Exec Director

With a background in Biochemistry, a career spanning some of the UK’s biggest brands, and a slightly obsessive belief that good design and doing the right thing shouldn’t have to be mutually exclusive,

Mark is the co-founder of nothing is left. After studying Biochemistry at the University of Edinburgh, Mark went on to hold a variety of commercial roles with brands including Mars, Warburtons and Hallmark, before joining Nuby UK, one of the world’s largest baby accessories brands, where he has been Managing Director for the past 5 years.  Outside of work, Mark and his wife, who is a doctor of Public Health, are proud parents to two boys, aged 10 and 14. The family share an enthusiasm for sport, adventure and the great outdoors. In short, Mark spends a lot of time thinking about how we can make everyday things better — and is pretty excited about leaving nothing behind.

Stéphanie Maillet - Sales Director

Paris-born and a Londoner since 2010, Stéphanie has spent her career building brands and distribution across the globe, from cosmetics to homewares. She loves the energy of working with international retailers and distributors, and the challenge of bringing great products to new markets.

When Andy first embarked on this new venture Stéphanie knew she wanted to be part of it. Doing things differently is at the core of the brand's DNA, and the innovation behind the material truly blows her mind: years of development and testing to come up with the right bioplastic and make products that are beautiful, sturdy and a pleasure to use day after day, yet ultimately designed to disappear. It’s an incredibly difficult balance to achieve, and one that
nothing is left has genuinely cracked.

Today, Stéphanie is extremely proud to partner with nothing is left to build its distribution and bring this exciting alternative to consumers around the world — offering a genuine choice for those who no longer want to compromise between a beautiful product and making a better choice for their health and the planet.
